Working within an architecturally significant existing building required a careful balance between preservation, coordination and contemporary performance.
POLKEYCOLLINS helped develop and resolve the construction detail, supporting XConstruct in delivering the design while responding to the realities of the existing fabric. The approach focused on maintaining the clarity of the original architecture while integrating new interventions in a considered and precise way.
The building’s adaptable concrete frame, dual-aspect floorplates and floor-to-ceiling glazing provided a strong foundation for its transformation into modern workspace.
Bringing new life to a landmark building
The refurbishment retains and repairs key elements of the existing building while improving its environmental performance and workplace offer. Restored lead cladding, a renewed reception and the reinstatement of a glazed conservatory help preserve the building’s identity, while upgraded services and end-of-journey facilities support its next chapter as a contemporary workplace.
